You can't expect media to agree with you if your action affects media. In media, it's an old boys' network, too. The tayo-tayo system applies.
What old boys' network? The one that congregates at the Customs office every Friday? The editors the author is referring to probably don't belong in that group known among old-timers at the media call the "Friday Boys" but you must also see that not all media practitioners necessarily disagree with Mr. Onion-Skinned. These people who write columns and editorials, they don't necessarily speak for the entire media industry in Cebu, the way our thick-faced tongressmen don't represent us, their constituents, in this stupid Con-ass issue. For all you know, there are several more reporters out there, the silent majority perhaps, who are cheering on Mr. Onion-Skinned for standing up to people who think they are always entitled to the last say, even if they are not always right.
